First up, let's talk about our predicted winner, Oldbury Lad, competing at Lingfield in the 6f Race 5 Mira Showers Rain Supreme Handicap at 16:30. A 3-year-old gelding trained by G Harris, Oldbury Lad steps into this race with decent odds of 7.0, putting him in the value odds category. He is piloted by K T O'Neill, who has had a bit of a cold streak recently with a 14-day win rate of just 6%. Even so, K T O'Neill has teamed up successfully with G Harris in the past. Looking at Oldbury Lad's form, he has raced six times over the last 720 days but is yet to secure a win. Lingfield might just be where he turns the corner, given G Harris has secured a win just recently at this track. However, Oldbury Lad needs to improve significantly to make a mark today. Ancient State, also a 3-year-old, is second in line with a live price of 4.33. Under the guidance of Martin Dunne and ridden by William Carson, this colt has shown some promise. Despite not having raced in the past 30 days, Ancient State won a race within the last 180 days and has completed three races over today's distance in the past two years, winning one. With a trainer who has a modest 7% win rate over the last six months, he might need to spring a bit of a surprise to surpass our top pick. Rogue Endeavour, sharing the same trainer as Oldbury Lad, comes into this race with odds of 6.0. Ridden by Ray Dawson, this gelding could be an interesting contender given the jockey's recent success rate of 14% in the last 60 days, including a win on this course. However, Rogue Endeavour hasn't been on his best form, having not won any of his ten races in the past two years. The partnership between Ray Dawson and G Harris does have a few successful outcomes, so a turnaround shouldn't be completely off the cards. Among other contenders, watch for Bluesy Moon and Top Biller. Bluesy Moon, at a longer price of 11, isn't without merit for a cheeky punt given its recent runs over the distance. Top Biller, at 8.5, could be another to watch with a slight improvement needed from previous performances. In summary, Oldbury Lad seems set with a good chance if he can exploit his experience and perhaps channel some of that promise shown in glimpses before. Good luck with your picks, and as always, bet responsibly!
